जब इंटरनेट इतना प्रचलित नही था, और सोशल मीडिया का नाम भी नही था। उस समय कंपनी का माल भी मार्केट मे आने के बाद भी महीनो सालो तक लोगो के पास पहुंचती थी। लेकिन अब जब इंटरनेट लोगो की जेब मे हैं। युवा छात्रो से लेकर बुर्जुग तक सभी सोशल मीडिया पर एक्टिव है। जंहा एक ओर तो आॅनलाइन खरीदारी का चलन चल पडा है। वहीं दुसरी ओर अनेको नेटवर्क मार्केटिंग कंपनियों ने भी सोशल साइट्स का सहारा लिया है। जिसके बाद से नेटवर्क मार्केटिंग की मांग काॅरपोरेट जगत मे इसकी मांग तेजी से बढ़ी है। सोशल मीडिया के माध्यम से नेटवर्क मार्केटिंग मे करियर के नए विकल्प उभर के सामने आए है। इसके साथ ही इस क्षेत्र में तरक्की करने की असीम संभावनाएं हैं। इसके दो कारण हैं। पहला तो यह कि भारत में इस समय करोडो इंटरनेट उपभोक्ता है। और दूसरा ये कि भविष्य में इनकी संख्या करीब दस गुना तक बढ़ने की उम्मीद जताई जा रही है। बाजार विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि अगर किसी कंपनी को टिके रहना है तो उसे इस नए डिजिटल माध्यम द्वारा ग्राहकों की जेब से पैसा निकालना होगा।
